A day the sun did not set

Written by Sapna

I’ll tell you something about the sun,

It rose at dawn and the day has begun!

But something about it makes me fret,

Today, the sun did not set!

When I go whistling in the lane,

Because of the high temperature I rush home again!

Oh! This unusual warmth is such a nuisance,

Is the sun under some strange influence?

No one can step out of the house, even at midnight,

Looking at the sun in the darkness gives me such a fright.

Owls and bats cannot go hunting,

Every being is disturbed by this difficulty they are confronting.

I have been bothered so much by this heat,

I long to be in Antarctica on the cool snow sleet.

Oh! Look, my desire has come true!

I see a big polar bear, but, what does it chew?

The polar bear is chewing a piece of fish,

And he says that he also has a wish.

Unfortunately the sun is shining bright in Antarctica too,

And the sky is pure, clean and blue.

Not a cloud to shower rain on the disheartened mortals is in sight,

Everyone is miserable but the sun stands arrogantly at its height.

The polar bear wishes The Great Winds to blow the sun away,

But these winds think, that it is actually day!

But look what is happening because of this sun,

Plants and animals are dying with this rapid burn.

Now the overconfident and arrogant sun does realize,

And decides to go and humbly apologize.

He cools down and turns into an ice ball,

Then goes to the earth gives a huge, guilty call.

He says that he is sorry, and had become too grand,

God came and forgave him, and then the heat he banned.

He said that from now, he creates a new rule,

That from now the earth shall always stay pleasant and cool.

The temperature should not go as high as the sun had taken,

And no creature on earth should be like before shaken.

Then the sun went and finally came the night,

But by now it was time for the sun to rise!

The sun came up calmly and did not burn the land,

And a great carnival was held, it was certainly grand!
